This term, Year 1 and 2 have been learning about how animals survive, grow and stay healthy. We have explored the four basic needs all animals need to survive: food, water, air and shelter. The children have learned how to identify different animals and their young, and have explored the life cycles of humans, frogs and butterflies, noticing how they grow and change over time. We have also learned why exercise is important for keeping our bodies healthy and discussed different ways we can look after ourselves and stay active.

Year 1 and 2 have been learning about toys from the past. The children brought in their own favourite toys and enjoyed comparing them with toys from many years ago. They explored how toys have changed over time, looking at the materials they are made from and how they work. The children also enjoyed a visit to Brampton Museum, where they had the opportunity to see and learn about toys from the past first-hand. It has been a fantastic topic for developing their understanding of how life has changed over time.

Art – Signs of Spring

Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed looking for signs of spring. We have two beautiful blossom trees bursting into flower. We made our own spring blossom trees, looking carefully at the trunks and branches.

English – Looking at Fossils

The Year 1 & 2 children were excited to find some fossils! They took it in turns to carefully reveal each one and we discussed what they could see and feel. The children then wrote some amazing sentences using the vocabulary we had discussed. They are excited to find out more about the fossils.
